Hannah Joy King is an artist based in Margate who defines her practice as gonzo-art. Finding references in documentary photography and her own travel, she crosses cultural barriers and histories to catch authenticity that leaks out the body through gesture.
Her interest in cultural dialogue comes from having a younger sister adopted from China which from a young age exposed her to complexities of cultural capital, identity, and authenticity.
Hannah studied Art History at the University of Kent. Being awarded a first class degree, she went on to complete her PGCE and teach Art and Photography at secondary level, winning an award from the National Society of Education in Art and Design (NSEAD). She is currently on the TURPs Margate programme under the mentor Alex Calinescu.
